Barrier-free means built environments that take human diversity into account. A barrier-free environment enables diverse mobility on an equal basis. This also concerns taking human diversity into account in the design phase.<\/p>\n

Avaava is an advocate of barrier-free design and an expert in the field. Over the years, we have carried out over 100 physical accessibility-related projects around Finland. In addition, we have carried out numerous physical accessibility surveys, training and consultations.<\/p>\n

Avaava has been involved in barrier-free projects either as a designer, consultant or supplier. Avaava’s own barrier-free products, such as bathroom fittings and basins or signs and signage, represent the best in their field.<\/p>\n

We conduct surveys to benefit the developers and designers of both renovation and new construction projects.<\/p>\n

Our survey method is based on construction regulations and recommendations. Our surveys are based on the generally accepted ESKEH survey method. The course content is customised according to the customers\u2019 needs. For example, the course can be built around the physical accessibility challenges of an ongoing construction site, or the course content can be limited to only some areas, e.g., a functional seeing or hearing environment.<\/p>\n
